What Causes Foul Smelling Stools?

I hzve noticed twice now in about the last two weeks that my poop smells almost like metal. It's really soft and easy to poop and i haven't seen any trases of blood yet. the smell lingers for a few minutes and then goes away. I changed my diet about a month ago to a really strict carb cycling plan. i only consume fish oil pills, oats, womans vitamin, mrm, chicken, lots of veggies, almonds, eggs, flax seed, and whey protien. i also have an external pile.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Malabsorption is a common cause of foul-smelling stool. Common causes of malabsorption include: 1) celiac disease, which is a reaction to gluten
2) inflammatory bowell disease
I suggest you to do a celiac serology, a blood test,a stool test for a proper diagnose.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks! Regards
