What Causes Freqent Urination And Abdominal Discomfort?

Hi I am 28 years of age and am about 5ft 6". For the past 3 weeks I have had very strong abdominal cramps, The need to urinate all the time. I feel very tired and slight exertion takes my breath away. I have lost approx 4kg of weight in the past 4 weeks without trying. I have been diagnosed with IBS but this has been kept under control for the past 2 1/2 year with loperamide hydrocholoride with simeticone (imodium plus). I feel shivery but do not have a fever. What do you think could be the problem, my own doctor seams to have a feeling that I am pregnant and has there for not done any tests.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* The most possible reason for urination problem is urinary infection with or without underlying calculus.
* Weight loss issue is not related to urinary problem, it is due to IBS only.
* I recommend to undertake an ultrasound examination of the abdomen & pelvis for further management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think the symptoms you are referring are just urinary tract infection and maybe even calculus. You should do a uroculture to determine the type of antiantibiotic that treats your infection and maybe an ultrasound.
You should do a pregnancy home test if you have at least 5 days of delayed period.
The weight loss is not related to UTI but is due to IBS.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
