Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Assuming that his symptoms are not due to an organic problem then, he may be suffering from generalized anxiety disorder, severe depression, or PTSD due to something he's been repressing which is now catching up with him. His doctor should definitely make sure that all metabolic parameters are normal such as hormones of the adrenal thyroid, and even parathyroid glands.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
