What Causes Frequent Febrile Convulsions In A Child?
Hai doctor, i am an Indian residing in UAE and my son who s 18 months old is getting frequent febrile convulsions once in 35-40 days and the episode lasts for 10-15 minutes. we had his EEG done and results were normal, all his blood reports are okay except low iron i.e 9 microgram & vitamin -D = 23ng/ml, Hb = 11.9, pcv = 35%. today also he had convulsions with out fever and doctor has advised for MRI.
He may be suffering from a chronic infection. I recommend performing a blood bacterial culture and a urine bacterial culture. A brain MRI is also necessary in order to exclude a possible brain birth defect.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
