My grandmother is 71 years old and she gets freuqent nose bleed, Im worried that she wont go to the doctor... She also has asthma and COPD(for some years now). Im not sure when the nose bleeding started but this has been her 3 one within a month time frame. My curious if it has anything to do with her COPD

Hi,
In the elderly if it not due to abuse, then it is more possibly due to dry nose.
Dry nose in the elderly is due to reduced nasal secretions. When the elderly pick the nose, it comes like crusts with bleeding below this. Nasal douching with normal saline and avoiding of nasal picking should be adequate.
However if she does not have nasal dryness the look for any bleeding or red spots on other areas of body. Lab investigations like platelet count, Bleeding time, and routine hemogram is necessary.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
