What Causes Frequent Urination And Burning In Urethra While Having Cold?

Hello, I am a 17 year old female. Recently, I caught the cold (4 days ago) and my urethra has been burning every once in a while. This happens especially when I drink soda or anything besides water. There is no pain during urination but there is a fairly strong odor. I frequently have to urinate, but that is probably because I drink so much water, and there is always at least 8oz of urine that comes out. The urine is not cloudy and there is no blood. I have woken up earlier in the morning due to the urge to pee. I am afraid that it is another Urinary Tract Infection, as I ve had UTIs 3 times before. I am not sure if it is the cold that is making me pee frequently or if the UTI is causing the cold. Lately, my lower right side (around the hip area) has been aching. I would like to know what it is. Thank you!

Hello,

I think you are suffering from a urinary tract infection. Taking count your history of frequent UTI the right thing to do is an uroculture to check the bacteria which is causing it and which antibiotics are working on it.

You may need antibiotics. Also using cranberry juice or tea can help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
