Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Dear Doctor I am 32 years old man, I am suffering from urination and sexual problems. The detail is as follows: It started off about 3 years ago when I used to sit for long hours in the business meetings with clients and used to hold my urine for hours and hours - it went on for about 1 and half year, same routine of sitting in long meetings, consuming cola (soda drink) and then holding urine - this routine has now given me biggest problem of my life that I suffer from urination problem, even if I drink half glass of water I feel the need of emptying bladder immediately and even after visiting toilet I need to go again within 1-2 minutes, there is certain irritaion in my bladder, the urine flow is very weak, almost like drops and there is almost no sensation while peeing - Though I can hold the pee for hours if I want to but the irritation is too much. Please help me with this problem. Also the other problem which is developed side by side is the sexual weakness, before this problem I was very active sexually, I used to have proper full hard erection, but now after this urination problem I dont have no errection at all, no feelings at all, no sensation in the penis at all, also there is no night fall now..... I am so much worried. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to rule out any signs of increased prostate size causing an obstruction on the urethra and leading to inadequate bladder emptying and collection of residual urine.

A baseline ultrasound prostate, as well as post-void urine volume, should be calculated.

Urinalysis to rule out any signs of urinary tract infection should also be looked for and if suspected urine culture and antibiotics may be needed.

Meanwhile, sugar levels should also be looked for along with serum and urinary sodium levels to rule out any endocrine causes of such symptoms.

Avoid fluids and liquids at night post-dinner and avoid caffeine and other diuretics beverages.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
