What Causes Frequent Urination While On Alpha Blockers For Enlarged Prostate?
Hello, I have an enlarged prostrate, im 57 and the prostrate is 49cc, I am on a course of Alpha blockers as I am having some difficulties with frequent urination etc My question however, is about discomfort in the prostrate area when sitting down. I have not seen anything mentioned about the possibility of being able to feel this enlargement, is my discomfort due to this do you think? Please advise if you can. Thank you David .
Common causes of frequent urination are:- 1) Urinary tract infections 2) Bladder stone 3) Bladder or renal infection 4) Diabetes mellitus 5) Benign hypertrophy of the prostate 6) Excessive water intake 7) On medications like tablet Lasix. As you already have benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). You can do a random blood sugar level. Keep yourself hydrated. Do ultrasound abdomen and pelvis. As still, you have problems, have to increase the dose or posted for surgery. Maintain proper hygiene. Treatment depends upon underlying conditions. I will suggest you follow up with a detailed history or consult with a urologist for a detailed examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale
