My five year old daughter has had fevers every 3 months for past year. Treated with fluids and Tylenol successfully every time and no doctor visits. Urine sporadically very foul past year but no other symptoms other than feeling general malaise when fever reached higher number. Has small urine accidents somewhat frequent. could she be having frequent UTI that she is just overcoming herself with fluids/Tylenol? Pediatrician triage nurse said over phone if it were infections usually would not just go away. Should she get further testing. Could this be something else unrelated. Also everyone else in family including her twin has never contracted these illness epidsodes so I m suspicious for it not being contagious viral stuff.
Hello Thanks for query. Repeated episodes of UTI in a child is always suspected to be due to Vesico Ureteric Reflux.(VUReflux) unless proved otherwise by doing following basic tests. 1) Urine Routine and urine culture . 2) DMSA scan 3) Intravenous Pyelography 4) Micturating Cystourethrogram.(MCU). Please consult qualified Urologist for evaluation ad further treatment. Dr.Patil.
