Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Vaginal discharge is a common complaint in young girls before puberty. Causes include foreign body in vagina, for example toilet paper; obesity; sexually transmitted infections, such as child abuse. These causes, among others, MUST be eliminated by her health care provider. AFTER this is done, she can be treated with warm baths 1-2 times a day with a mild soap like, Dove or Basis; careful drying between legs in front and applying small amount of baby powder(no talc); frequently change white, cotton underpants to absorb discharge; wipe front to back after bowel movements; no bubble baths or other irritants. I do not think her coughing is related to the vaginal discharge. Children can cough due to an upper respiratory infection, croup, pneumonia, asthma, reflux of stomach contents.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
