What Causes Gurgling In Stomach After Eating?

Hi,

For the last year or so, I have been experiencing butterflies in my stomach when I lay down to sleep. Lately, it has gotten worse. Also, when I eat, my stomach gurgles which seems to produce gas. I just had a stomach ultrasound and it was clear. Any idea, what may be causing this?

Hi there,

This is likely due to something in your diet. It seems like you are noticing this when you lay down before you go to sleep. I'd recommend not eating before you go to bed. Try not to eat anything at least 2 hours before you go to bed. It sounds like you may have some component of reflux causing your symptoms, which is commonly known as GERD (gastroesphageal reflux). I'd try taking over the counter prilosec and seeing if that helped your symptoms.

I hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
