Hello, The elderly are at great risk for delerium, a condition that can result in confusion, hallucinations and even changes in levels of consciousness (alert one moment and drowsy or out of it the next). Many things can cause this including medications and infections. He needs to see a doctor and be checked for infections and other conditions that may cause this problem Regards
