What Causes Hardness On The Labia Minora?

I m 20, I m a virgin, don t do drugs, and today on the left side of my labia minora it s become hard, red, and it hurts, I also started my period to day. My periods have been sporadic and scattered since the time I started, so I never really know what to expect, since I really don t have a normal. Please help me and thank you, if you can! :)

Hello,

Infections, cysts, and allergic reactions are a few things that can cause swelling, hardness and discomfort in your labia minora. Allergens can trigger your symptoms. Stay away from allergens like the perfumes in soap or detergents, sex toys, or certain fabrics in clothing. it’s not uncommon for redness and inflammation to occur when clothes rub against your private parts.

If skin comes into contact with something it’s allergic to, it’s likely to swell. Ointment Soframycin can be used on the affected area. You can take acetaminophen, one stat when needed to help reduce inflammation, pain and soreness. Apply a cool compress to the swollen area for relief. Make sure to keep away from soaps, perfumed detergents, and feminine products.

Avoid wearing tight clothing's as it generates heat and limits airflow, allowing bacteria and fungi to grow. In case of fungal infection, you can apply ointment clotrimazole on the area affected.
