What Causes Headache And Nausea After Taking Metronidazole And Doxycycline?

I have been prescribed metronidazole and doxycycline for suspected pid and have been taking them for four days. For the last 9 hours or so I have had a terrible headache and nausea, which is worse when i move, and makes my face and neck feel tense. Could this be related? Should I keep taking the medication?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to side effects of Metronidazole.

Common side effects of Flagyl are loss of appetite, headaches, and nausea.

I suggest to continue the medications as prescribed by the doctor.

The side effects will go away on its own.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
