What Causes Headaches After Stopping Paxil Intake?

I have just come completely off Paxil very rapidly. Now I feel something like little spurts of electricity going thru my head especially when I turn my head. I have a very bad headache almost daily and my head feels like a bowling ball (very heavy). My coordination is off and I am experiencing severe muscle cramps.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to Paxil withdrawal. It is a medication that should be stopped gradually due to the vasomotor changes. I recommend using anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg to relieve the headache.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
