Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 12 years old and will be turning 13 in a couple of weeks. He has been complaining of headaches off and on since September. His pediatrician suggested that I keep a log of these headaches and nausea he has been having. I have and he just started complaining recently of these headaches and nausea symtoms and missed school yesterday because of it. How do I know if this is growing pains, because he is growing so tall so fast but he is losing weight, or something more serious?

What Causes Headaches And Nausea In 13 Year Old?
Hi, By what you say I feel that your kid is experiencing pediatric migraine without aura. It is extremely common nowadays to have a headache like this because of stress or tension or a migraine. As of now, you can give him Ibuprofen at the appropriate dose and if still, the migraine is very frequent then he will require preventive medication. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
