What Causes Heart Burning Sensation While Using Clindamycin?
300 mg clindamycin after day 11 I started feeling a really bad heartburn from my stomach to my throat. I startedd feeling chest pains to my stomach with a mix of heartburn immediately after taking it after lunch. I just took another pill and I feel a slight pain in my chest. Should I discontinue use ? And I already have heartburn issues and currently taking ranitidine for that. And I m using the medication for a tooth infection.

Hello.Although 11 days of treatment with clindamycin are,initially,enough to treat tooth infection, your doctor should decide about continuing or stopping treatment .For now, I recommend replacing Ranitidine for most powerful antacid drug,for example Omeprazole 20 mg twice a day.

I would suggest you to add sucralfate suspension for heartburn. It has good results. As you had heartburn issue in past so clindamycin might not be the cause of it. Does heartburn occurs after every meal or at what time? Do you have troubled night sleep? These questions will help to reach a definitive diagnosis of heartburn.
AVOID:
Coffee, cafine, chocolates & spicy food. They aggravate it.
