What Causes Heart To Skip A Beat In The Evening?

I am a 64 year old male. No previous health problems. Recently I have noticed that my heart skips a beat. This usually only happens during the evening after dinner and with one glass of wine, when I am reclined or laying in bed. Have not noticed anything irregular during the day.

Thanks for contacting HCM

I am sorry to hear that you are having irregular heart beats that occur at night. From your description these are isolated individual beats. This is a common occurrence and is not associated with any malignant or dangerous heart rhythms. I would recommend that you see your doctor to do a more complete evaluation. In my practice I would do a full blood work, EKG and a 24 hour Holter monitor. The monitor will record each heart beat and will capture the irregular heart beat so your doctor can diagnose the exact cause of your irregular heart beat.

Hope this answers your question. If you have any inquiries please contact us so we can help.
