Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 35 year old male. I have a thin frame at 5 11 and 170 pounds, but my belly is 37 inches. I have one good bowel movement a day (say about 2-3 cups worth) in the morning. I eat 4 times per day at about 2400 calories. The food I eat is healthy, no processed food. How do I tell if my problem is constipation or food allergy/intolerance? If I drink prune juice, I only get a little bit of feces out and the rest is water and it comes out right away. Based on that is it safe to assume that I m allergic to a type of food?
If a particular instance of little faeces with water is observed every time of intake of prune juice, then it surely suggests the sensitivity of the gut. The occasional episode can be an accidental or associated infection of GIT. I would like to assist further at any time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
