What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding And Severe Mood Swings?
My daughter will be 50 this September and is adamant that she is not in premenopause or perimenopause. She has experienced heavy bleeding with her periods and gets irritable and moody. I went through menopause naturally at 56. I had regular periods up until that time with the exception of my pregnancy. She started her period at 10 and has had no children. Are those factors to be considered?
Hello, Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my opinion. Considering your daughter's age, she is likely to be in peri-menopause. The fact that she never had any children increases the possibility of hormone related conditions and the heavy periods could possibly be one of them. I would ask her to get a complete gynecological evaluation along with a pap smear, urinalysis, blood counts, hormone profile and a trans-vaginal sonogram to help plan further management. Hope this helps.
