What Causes High Blood Pressure And Rapid Heart Rate Despite Taking Clonidine?

Lately my blood has been running as high as 186/128 with 112 pulse even with blood pressure medication. My doctor retired a few months ago and I have an app set for 2 week. Should I go to ER if it gets this high? I just took it and I got it down to 139/97 with pulse of 102 using chlonodine.

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
It is suggestive of Hypertensive crisis ('hypertensive urgency') which is not controlled by Clonidine alone.
Had I been your treating doctor I would have advised you to visit ER
as the treatment generally requires readjustment of Clonidine dose and/or additional dosing of oral BP lowering medications. A BP reading of 180/110 or greater requires immediate evaluation, because early evaluation of organ function & BP elevations at these levels is critical to determine the appropriate management.
Hope these suggestions would be of great help to you.
