What Causes High Cholesterol And Triglyceride Levels?

I am a 47 year old female, hypothyroid(on meds for years), eat healthy, exercise my entire life, in good physical shape. past few years out of nowhere, doctor did and echo & found out I have Left ventricular hypotrophy. I have been on HydrocholorOTHIAZ TB 12.5MG & AMLODIPINE 2.5MG. These 2 medications have improved the LVH somewhat and mostly control my HBP. In June 2015 my cholesterol was high but I thought it was because I stopped eating meat for a month(I only lasted 5wks). Blood work the last 2 times the same thing. so now I had blood taken 2 days ago & my over is 244 and my triglycerides are 275(doc says it should be 150). I still have my period so doc says I shouldn t go on medication until I don t get it anymore...How worried should I be about my cholesterol.. I know it blocks the arteries but I do work out and take care of myself. any advice would be appreciated

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I already reviewed the cholesterol level. It is higher than normal range. I suggest taking a statin medication such as Atorvastatine 20 mg daily. I also suggest to use a low calories diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
