What Causes High Fever At Night In A Toddler Recovering From Cold?
Hello, my 2 year old son.. 11 kilos has pre anemia and just getting off a cold, has been taking antibiotics for 5 days, as long with decongestion medicine, tempra for fever(which he didnt have to take anymore) and iron supplements.. But the past 2 days he has had a high fever and has been in the fetal position as if he has stomache cramps or has been trying to poop and cant.. This only happens at night, in the morning he is active with high energy.. At daycare they say he poops and eats fine so i am not sure what the problem is.
Hello and Welcome to Ask A Doctor. I have read your query and here is my advice. A child can have a cold without fever and following several days can develop a fever. Usually this is a sign of a second infection, most commonly of the middle part of the ear. Pneumonia can also appear in a child having a cold. As your son is acting normally during the daytime and is able to sleep without crying or vomiting during the night, I believe you may safely watch him at night without concern about his position. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help. Arnold Zedd, MD, FAAP
