What Causes High Fever?

my child (3year of age)weighing 17kgs, is having fever for the last 3days, he is getting fever only in night, not in day, his fever usually touches 100.3 mark, not beyond that, my doctor had adviced me to give Meftal P, instead of Calpol, is it fine, i used to give him calpol and meftal p only if the fever breaches 103 mark,

can meftal p be given i light fever,

hello there, thanks for the query, Remember , Fever is a signpost, pointing to a disease process in the body. As you said that your only giving paracetamol and mefenamic acid for fever which will temporarily lower down bodys temp.
But it also important to know the cause of fever e.g. viral, bacterial, malarial etc.

If fever does not come down in 3 to 5 days u should have blood and urine test done(earlier if condition is deteriorating rapidly) and treat accordingly.
Because fever is symptom not the disease itself.
Now coming to your point whether to give mefenamic acid(mefthal-p), it is given for high grade fever above 101 or 102 till then paracetamol is safe and sufficient.
I think your doing right thing by giving paracetamol for low grade fever and mefthal for high grade.
