What Causes High Sugar Levels While On Humalog?

Is there such a thing as a bad vile of insulin?Maybe a recall.Have been using Humalog for 10 years.Last two days after I started the new vile my sugars are very high and been taking a lot of insulin to bring it down.I had diabetes a long time and know there are alot of factors but I havent been doing anything different and takes way more than usual to bring it down.Pharmacy advised to contact Lilly.Have diabetes long time and something isnt right.Any ideas?

hi,
It would most likely be something going wrong inside even though there seems no difference in the way you live. I would recommend you to wait for some time and then reassess the dose. A routine blood panel for cell counts and ESR would help identify any new problems like infection.
Even when everything is right, spontaneous flareups of sugars is well known. On the other side, a counterfeit vial, poorly maintained cold chain and contaminated vials may loose their efficacy. You might try another vial if you suspect it and may contact Lilly people.
All the best.
