What Causes Hot Flashes And Salty Taste In Mouth?

Hi I am a 44 year old woman and in the last few weeks have started to get hot flushes and now in the last two days have developed a salty taste in my mouth. I have spoken to my doctor recently and have been referred to the hospital with heavy, painfull and irregular periods. I have seen the consultant and had an ultrasound scan which shows I have a substantial fibroid. I am waiting for an appointment to go back to the consultant. They tell me I am a bit young for the menopause but wonder if these symptons could indicate otherwise. Many thanks
