Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Huge Knot In Middle Of Sternum With Pacemaker Implant?
I m 29 and had my pacemaker implant on 7/31/14. After shock issues from my PM and multiple pulmonary embolism I had another heart cath and ablation on 8/7. I ve been home for 2 weeks now, and have a huge knot on the middle of my sternum. It hurts to bend over and breathing is taxed. Is this a problem with the leads? I started taking aspirin due to the major migraines I ve had since surgery but thus far nothing helps the sternum pain.
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up precision.
I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. I will recommend that you get this knot examined by a physician. Because you had chest procedures with an implant, I would have no idea what this corresponds to. Could it be related to the procedure and the implant or rather from the structures of the chest? Only a careful clinical exam would help us make this difference. I would preferably love this to be done by the same doctors who did the procedure.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information should need be.
