What Causes Hunger Pain?

I have strong hunger pains that subside for an hour or so after I eat. I noticed on an empty stomach first thing in the morning I have no pain, when I immediately wake. As soon as I start getting up In the morning I get a knotted feeling. The pain is curbed with eating. With the stomach hunger in general, It's all day. I don't notice any other symptoms when I am hungry, just very discomforting. I'm taking Diovan HCT for hypertension as well.
