Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been to the doctor for fluid build up in his testicles, he has had an ultrasound and blood work, they said they see nothing alarming but has fluid build up, no pain but his testicles and penis are swollen, he needs to see a urologist but not until the 13th of September, can you enlighten us on why ? and what options there are for this?
There are different tyoes of hydrocele - those ranging from a small cystic swelling to that involving the entire scrotal sac and shaft of penis.
In some people, the inner layer of the covering of the testes and penis starts secreting fluid which gradually accumulates, causing visible swelling. The exact cause is not known. Sometimes infections like filariasis are the cause, but it has been eradicated in some countries.
I am afraid it will keep recurring even after fluid removal by a syringe. The only intervention with less chances of recurrence is a minor surgery.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
