What Causes Imbalance While On Aspirin?

I recently had 4 brain aneurysms fixed with pipeline stents. I was on Plavix and 325 mg aspirin. After 6 months I had an angiogram and all looks great! I was taken off the Plavix but am still on 325 mg aspirin. I get off balanced at times, meaning may walk off balance or off. I weigh 120 lbs am 5 3 and 60 years old. My question is is 325 mg of aspirin too much for me? I did email my dr today to ask but thought I d ask here too. Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Aspirin is an antiplatelet drug that prevents platelets from forming a clot inside the blood vessels. The dizziness is highly likely the side effect of Aspirin.

Aspirin was found to cause dizziness in a regular dose. It affects the vestibular nerve which is important in keeping balance in the body.

A 325 mg dose of aspirin is a regular dose which may cause dizziness. Unfortunately, the only cure for aspirin-induced dizziness is to stop taking the medicine and switch to alternative medicine.

If you have already contacted your doctor he may examine your condition to switch to a medicine with fewer side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Malik Amonov
