What Causes Indigestion And Low Appetite In A Diabetic Patient?

Hi Sir, My father is aged 52 years and is a diabetic patient. He is taking metformin 500mg and glim tables but he does not have good appetite further his stomach remain upset like lack of proper digestion, stomach feels tight. He is considering to take Liv 52DS, does it seems appropriate or will it have any effect upon the sugar levels. Kindly suggest the needful.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your Father and understood your concerns.
Since your Father is diabetic, see first of all whether diabetes is under control or not, get blood and urine sugar levels as well as average blood sugar level as well as HbA1c to see his control for the last three months.
A uncontrollable or not well controlled diabetes can give rise to gastroenteritis in a subtle way hence the symptoms of indigestion, loss of appetite and so on.
I would advise further the following:
Get the stool tests done for three days.
Get a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole for 5 days and see the results.
Add on probiotics.
Role of Liv 52 can not be commented upon by me as this is an Ayurvedic preparation.
Also identify the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems and stop such things altogether.
There is a role of stress and anxiety too hence needs to be well controlled.
I find this answer helpful
