What Causes Intermittent Fever And Tiredness While Treating COPD?

My husband has had a fever of 101 off and on for 5 days now. He runs out of gas just walking 100 ft. and he is always tired. He has been in his recliner for the past week except for when we go to his doctor appointments. He is currently being watched by his cardiologist as he has afib and he also has COPD. Could this be a sign of additional lung issues and should I get him into the hospital?

Hello,

He might be having associated chest infection. A short course of antibiotics preferably levoflox can be started empirically. Consult a physician for expert opinion. sputum culture can be done to chose appropriate antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
