What Causes Intermittent Pain In Right Side Stomach After Taking Protein?

I am having some on again off again pain on my right side above my stomach but just below my rib cage. It is not constant, it seems to be worse after I eat a meal with protein. It feels like an intense burning but only lasts a couple of seconds. My gallbladder was taken out about 5 years ago. Any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Intermittent stomach pain if related to certain foods could be due to excess acid secretion causing gastritis.

In most of the cases pain or burning sensation subsides automatically and generally no definitive treatment required.

However, you can go for routine blood count and ultrasound abdomen to rule out infective or any other stomach pathology.

You may take antacids like pantoprazole or digene gel with food to alleviate this pain or burning.

Avoid oily and spicy foods.

Regards,
