What Causes Intermittent Stomach Pains With Rectal Bleeding?

For the past two weeks I have had stomach pains off and on. They have diminished in severity and how often they occur. But yesterday I noticed that I had clumps of blood in my stool. It wasn't mixed in with the stool and I only noticed it when I wiped. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It can be due to hemorrhoids. I suggest paying a visit to a gastrologist for a physical examination to rule out the cause.

Meanwhile, some advises that I can give to you are:
- Eat fibers and low fat foods
- Drink liquids
- Do not consume caffeine, and alcohol
- Quit smoking

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
