What Causes Intermittent Swelling Of Nose And Puffiness Of Face?
Hi, my nose swells every once in a while and usually takes 4 days to get back to its normal size, my face also gets puffy. I have a deviated septum but no allergies. Also, i always wake up and find nose discharge stuck in my throat. what might be the cause of all this?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain it seems that along with deviated nasal septum you also have sinusitis leading to puffiness of face and postnasal drip is due to discharge from sinuses flowing to throat via nasopharynx.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and along with a thorough clinical evaluation he can also advise you PNS View of x-ray or MRI of the sinuses.. In case of sinusitis he can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do steam inhalations, and use a humidifier in your room.. Decongestants like Phenylephrine and mucolytics like Ambroxol can be used.. Do warm saline gargles.. Avoid chilled and frozen foods and avoid air-conditioned atmosphere.. Septoplasty can also be advised to you for deviated nasal septum..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
