What Causes Irregular Bowels, Pain Around The Anal Area And Constipation?

My bowels are not very regular, and I usually have more regular bowels during my cycle. However, I have noticed around my last two cycles, I also will have several episodes where I have a severe pain, ache around the anal area. This also sometimes wakes me from sleep. Could this pain be due to constipation? Thank you.

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

Your symptoms are suggestive of localized inflammation of terminal colon (rectum and anus), possibly due to inflammatory bowel disease. You should get a colonoscopic examination done to directly visualize the exact cause of the problems in the colon.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me and get colonoscopy done.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
