What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Child Birth?
Hello Doctor, I m writing this on behalf of my wife Pradnya, aged 31 years, a mother of 2 year old baby girl. Since 3.5 months she hasn t got menstruation cycle. Just as an additional information, She has been advised to take thyronom 50mg post pregnency due to variation in thyroid. And by now she has put on weight as of she weights 82kg. Prior to pregnancy during her third month she was 64kg. Kindly advice. Regards Umesh
Hello Mr.Umesh, Thanks for posting your query. I have gone through it and understood your concern. The possible causes for delayed menstrual cycle of your wife are pregnancy, hormone imbalance which can be due to the weight gain, poorly controlled hypothyroid state, stress, infections of the genito-urinary tract and cysts on the ovary or other hormone imbalances. I would ask her to get a clinical evaluation, a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route, a complete hormone assay to clarify. Further management can be planned accordingly. Maintenance of a healthy lifestyle is essential. Hope this helps.
