What Causes Irregular Periods And Light Spotting ?

Hi. I have been spotting this light pink and sometimes it is dark.It goes away and then it is back. I put a pad on and there is nothing on it. It has been 5 days and it is still happening. I don t really have a regular period. I did have a period for 2 months straight and then I skipped last month. My Mamaw says that it is a sign of pregnancy but I don t have any money to get a test or to go to the doctor. I just want to know what s going on
