What Causes Irritated Penis With Painful Urination After Having Sex?

I had unprotected sex with girlfriend of 2 years and the next day my penis was irritated. The day after the irritation it just started hurting was i pee. I asked her if she had sex with anyone else and she said no and i believe her but still asked to rule that out. We are in a monogamous relationship. I also asked her if she was irritated down there or maybe thought she had a yeast infection, she said no, so my question is what are your thoughts on this and could it be me im 41 years of age

Hello sir and welcome.

At times, the process of sexual intercourse itself can result in a few abrasions and should not be a cause for concern. But if at all you continue to have symptoms like burning while urinating, lower abdominal or lower back pain, frequent urination, etc; I would recommend getting your urine tested. This could be a mild urinary tract infection (UTI) as well so please do not worry. At times not washing immediately after intercourse or other hygiene related issues can result in a UTI.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
