Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Irritation In The Stomach And Vomiting?
Hi Good morning Dr, my daughter who otherwise was well started saying irritability in stomach after she takes food .it started 3 days ago. by evening she vomits all of the undigested food. This is continuing since 3 days . She is 9 1/2yrs old. After vomiting she is fine and comfortably sleeps.
Vomiting undigested food in the afternoon or in the evening in a 9 and 1/2 year old daughter indicates that there can be subacute intestinal obstruction particularly by worms or intestinal edema or lymph nodes.
I would advise you the following: • Consult a pediatric surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like x-ray of abdomen in standing position, high resolution ultrasound, tests of stool and blood.
All these will give probable diagnosis hence would help in proper therapeutic management. • Till then give her only liquid diet. • Watch for worms in stool. • Watch if any particular food or beverage is causing her symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
