What Causes Itching All Over Body After Kidney Stone Removal Surgery?
I have a friend that had surgery to remove kidney stones that were too large to pass about a month ago. Since the surgery she has been itching all over to the point of leaving bruises on her stomach, chest, legs, and arms. She went to the PCP and they said it was a reaction and prescribed steroids but that didn't help. Any ideas?
Hi, I would suggest that your friend stop all medication and see if things get better. Steroids are useful, but drugs like fexofenadine at 180mg once daily might relieve itching. You could also find out if there is any internal stent which has been placed, and often if this piece is removed, patients are relieved, especially if they are allergic to the substance of which the stents are removed.
