What Causes Itching And Bruising On The Back After Suffering From Shingles?
Since March of this year I have what appears to be a bruise on the right and left side of my back with red raised area around in causing extreme itching, burning, muscle soreness, It has flared up 3 times each time causing me to feel like I have the flu, along with a yeast infection. I was treated for Shingles but this did not get rid of the issue I saw a dermatologist and they are not sure what it is. At this time I m awaiting the results of a biopsy but I m worried it some type of fungal infection that can cause serious issues.
I think it can be shingles but it can go and reoccur again. You may need to use oral antivirals such as acyclovir and acyclovir cream over it to help to heal. You may need to do shingles vaccine latter to help prevent reoccurrence.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
