What Causes Itching, Twitching, Skin Crawling While Ears Are Uncovered?
I often feel the need to cover my ears. Definitely while sleeping, but often during the day. I feel anxious, itchy, twitchy, my skin starts crawling at certain sounds if I don t have my ears covered. I m wearing ear muffs indoors right now. Is this anxiety? What can I do about this? It s not practical.
Itching, twitching, crawling sensation in ears if not covered can be due to the following reasons: * Nerve excitation. * Some sort of mild inflammation in ear canals. * Wax in ears. * dermatitis like psoriasis, eczema of the skin of ear canals. I would advise you to consult an ENT Surgeon for proper examination of the ears to find out any possible cause by endoscopy for enlarged view. IF there is any skin disease he may treat you or refer to a Dermatologist. If all the things or normal then this can be due to anxiety as you rightly thought so and your writing about this indicates that you are under stress or anxiety. Till then cover the ears. Do not instill anything in ear canals until advised by your ENT Surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
