What Causes Joint Pain And Shooting Pain In Body Along With Slight Memory Loss?
Hi! I am a 50-year-old female. Throughout today I ve been having significant joint pain and random sharp shooting pain throughout my body which feel like there stemming from bones rather than muscle. I ve also in the last few days noticed slight memory loss and today my hand started smelling like sulfur. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my regular physician but I m just curious to see if you have ideas.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. Repeated joint pains can be due to multiple causes at this age the commonest being poly arthralgia. Other causes can be rheumatoid arthritis, gout, inflammatory diseases like SLE, bursitis, fibromyalgia, etc. For proper diagnosis, some of the blood tests are advisable like- 1. Serum calcium levels. 2. Serum Uric acid levels. 3. RA factor 4. ESR and CRP 5. Serum Creatinine 6. X-ray of affected joints. You need a thorough clinical examination followed by investigations under the guidance of an orthopedician. Till then for symptomatic relief, you can take over the counter analgesics, do hot fomentation and apply local analgesic gel on the affected areas.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
