What Causes Lack Of Bowel Movement Despite Taking Laxatives?

Hi, I fell off a horse 3 days ago onto my side, pretty sure I cracked a couple of ribs, and have not had a bowel movement since, I took a laxative yesterday and am drinking tons of water and eating veggies. Also taking 325mg hydroco/apap twice a day. And 1/2 muscle relaxer only at night. Rubbing arnica and a cannibis cream externally twice a day. What can i do to encourage a vowel movement? Been trying to take short slow walks too. Thanks in advance.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.
The history of fall with probably fracture and inability to pass motion in site of a laxatives, tons of water and veggies indicate that the probable causes can be as follows:
There may be injury to colon also as you had a fall from a horse that probably caused fractured ribs.
Hydrocodone is known to cause constipation not easily amenable to laxatives.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation by a General surgeon as there is a possibility of fractured ribs.
CT scan of the chest and abdomen to see for fractured ribs and to rule out possible causes of colonic injury or any other internal injury and get treated accordingly.
Also go for strapping for the fractured ribs as this will reduce pain and there may not be any need of Hydrocodone so that you can be shifted to another anti-inflammatory medication with painkiller property like Ibuprofen which usually does not cause any constipation.
