What Causes Late Periods When Using Nuvaring ?

Hello, ive been on nuvaring for a while got periods every single month, my obgyn told me to keep it in for four weeks then change it on the 28th day. Last two months i havent had my period, pregnancy test came back negative so has the sonogram. Why am i missing my period ?

Hi,

NuvaRing shows few reported failure rates even if taken within 72 hrs. Also it has few side effects like stomach pain, dizziness, headache, stomach upset, breast pain, changes in menstrual cycle etc. Delay could be due to pregnancy or change in the pattern of cycle.
I advice you to:
- Do serum beta HCG test which is more reliable than HPT to rule out pregnancy.
- Watch for the next cycle, if there is still delay consult your doctor
