hi doctor, todays morning my father slip in washroom and he had a heart attack..when we take him hospital doctor said his brain right vein is leaked,,,,now i want to know what is the problem ....and how much time in which he recovered......please answer my question as soon as possible
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Judging from your description you probably mean that he has suffered a subdural hematoma. The answer to how much time he will need to recover depends on how much blood has leaked. Severity may vary from mild with a thin layer of blood which will be absorbed gradually over a few weeks to very severe forms with brain compression which may lead to death or severe disability (needs surgery). So the answer depends on brain imaging reports, how much blood there is. Furthermore you mention having a heart attack?! If that is correct things are much more complicated as that is a life-threatening condition in itself and in addition to that blood thinners are needed which may increase the blood leak. So if indeed there is a heart attack it would be a very complicated situation with a difficult prognosis to make.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
