What Causes Leg Cramps While On Carbidopa-Levodopa?

My name is Michael. I have Parkinson s. My Dr. increased my medicine. She added carbidopa-levo 25/100 tab sr to the 50/200 I was already taking. I woke up with bad cramps in my legs and I was sick to my stomack and could not go back to sleep. I m trying to find out if this is one of the side affects of this medicine.

Hi Michael,

I understand your concern.

As you say to have been sick in your stomach, I think that is not related to carbidopa-levodopa medicine.
It could be an acute gastroenteritis. If you had diarrhea or vomiting, it might have caused dehydration, and loss of electrolytes. This is clinically expressed with bad cramps in your legs.

Keep well hydrated. Take oral rehydration salts. Take magnesium supplement. If it will continue, please consult with your doctor further.
