What Causes Less Blood Flow In Left Uterine Artery During Pregnancy?
Hi, I am 32 weeks perg, I had my color doppeler yesterday, and the sonographer mentioned that it shows less blood flow in left uterine artery. I tried to ask her if this is normal or not but she just ignored me. I am totally confused now. I searched a lot on google but did not get any satisfactory answer for this. I have my doctors' appointment tomorrow , I will definetly ask her about it, but right now I am very tensed. I read on google that it can lead to IUGR. Is it true?? I am scared. Please help me
Hi, Thanks for the query. Decreased blood flow in uterine arteries can be seen due to increased vascular resistance. This can be seen in conditions like pregnancy induced hypertension, chronic hypertension, gestational diabetes etc. Sometimes decreased flow can denote impending onset of above conditions. But minimal decrease in flow may not represent any problem and may not affect the baby. So, don't worry. When you consult your doctor, get clarification regarding this. Meanwhile: -Take plenty of water and oral fluids -Be in rest and prefer sleeping in left lateral position -Decrease salt in diet Regular antenatal checkups are advised. Take care.
