What Causes Less Periods With Bad Cramps?

This past cycle my period was 8 days late according to my calculations and i started showing pregnancy symptoms, so i took a test last monday and it was faint positive, so i took another test 3 days later and it was negative, then my period started friday. I usually have pretty heavy flow the first 2 -3 days and really bad cramps, this time i had really light bleeding with cramps and now 2 days later my period has stopped and i still have cramps. i had unprotected sex around the time i should have ovulated.

Hello,

It is due to dysmenorrhea. As a first step, you can take analgesics like mefenamic acid for pain relief. If symptoms are severe better to consult a gynaecologist and get an ultrasound scan done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
